Hans Beentjes, owner of lunchroom Sea Cottage, makes the most delicious sandwiches with ERU Slices Cheddar

Hans Beentjes, owner of lunchroom Sea Cottage in Haarlem, has been running his own business for 24 years. “Over the years, Sea Cottage has expanded into an atmospheric lunchroom. Above the lunchroom, there is a small restaurant for group events and high-quality catering for events on location. In the lunchroom, we have an extensive menu featuring many different sandwiches, salads, snacks and fish,” says Hans Beentjes.

Hans Beentjes works 7 days a week. On Saturday, the lunchroom is closed so that he can order supplies and prepare for any parties. “I’m fortunate in that I don’t consider my job as work, even though the days are long,” says Hans Beentjes. This is clear to see when you meet him.

“Initially, I started this business selling fish. I soon thought it would be a good idea to start selling other things, because not everyone likes fish. On our burgers, we use ERU’s cheddar slices. These melt quickly and easily and add something special to the burger,” says Hans Beentjes.

He continues: “Besides burgers, we have our own meatball sandwich with ERU Slices Cheddar Naturel or a variant with chicken thighs. Before serving, the cheddar slices are heated with a burner. When we make lots of burgers for parties, we use ERU Cheese Spreads. This often results in pleasantly surprised faces.’’
