Barbara Brouwer, owner of De Èchte Groenteman in Wormer, has had her own greengrocer’s for over 12.5 years. “I took it over from my parents, so you could say I’ve grown up with it. In the past, I couldn’t imagine myself working in my parents’ store, but that changed. Now, my husband and I enjoy working in the shop 6 days a week,” says Ms Brouwer.
Anyone who thought that only bakers started early are wrong. At 8.00 a.m., their first customers arrive. Before that, they are busy preparing everything. Over the years, the ‘greengrocer’ has changed considerably. Obviously, you can buy 500 grams of fresh green beans and delicious strawberries there, but the counter display is also packed with delicious meals.
“Our customers can choose how they heat up their meal. We provide a lot of variety, but obviously there are customers who come back for their favourite meal. In salads, we use the ERU Cheese Spreads. You can choose between various spreads and the cheese adds a strong flavour to the salads,” says Ms Brouwer.

Ms Brouwer continues: “You can also use these cheese spreads to add flavour to stamppot dishes. I want to experiment with the ERU Cheese Spreads in my home-made meatballs too.” In her store, you receive a very enthusiastic welcome from Ms Brouwer, and you will never fail to be surprised by the colourful dishes in the counter display.
