Kees Blok, owner of KAASBEST in Zwijndrecht, has been running his own cheese specialty shop since 1988. Kees Blok grew up as the son of a farmer in the Alblasserwaard polder. “It started with selling farmer’s cheese, but soon expanded to become a cheese specialty store with dozens of specialty cheeses,” says Mr Blok.
“The shop is open 6 days a week. On Saturdays, it’s so busy that there are 5 of us serving customers here. In the shop, we welcome our many regular customers with a smile. And they can often sample a piece of cheese too,” says Mr Blok.
Mr Blok continues: “Besides a counter full of Dutch and foreign cheeses, I also sell wines, Belgian truffles, nuts, syrup waffles and other regional products. We have everything in store to make lovely gift hampers. Besides selling ERU Specialty cheeses from the counter, we also add them to gift packs. ERU à la Truffe is always popular with us.’’

Kees Blok always seems to judge things right. In fact, he’s already won several prizes for cutting a perfect kilo of cheese. Kees Blok is a man with a passion for his profession. “Besides selling cheese, I also feel it’s important to take the time to talk to people. So, I’ve also installed a special church pew in the shop,” says Mr Blok.
