The following health and safety and environmental rules apply within Koninklijke ERU
General
The purpose of these working conditions and environmental regulations is to inform visitors, temporary workers and third parties about applicable regulations. You are responsible for checking whether additional or different regulations may apply to your particular situation.
- Fire and (environmental) accidents
- Before starting work, know where the nearest fire extinguishers and emergency exits are and how they work. Familiarize yourself with the fire alarm and evacuation procedure. Report fire, personal or environmental accidents to the emergency response team, internal telephone number 499
- Tools and Materials
- Make sure that the tools, machines and any means of transport brought along are reliable and that they comply with the regulations; you are responsible for this. Only leave these in the workplace with the permission of the contact person. Leaving these resources behind is at your own risk. Clean up the workplace at the end of the working day. It is not allowed to charge equipment in production areas with open product.
- Use personal protective equipment:
- where this is indicated.
- where the work requires it, or the contact person so requires.
- Use the appropriate stairs. Never climb on machines etc.
- When you have to do work or grab something in a machine, you stop it. Never put your hand into a machine.
Noise pollution
- Avoid activities in the outdoor area that are disruptive to the environment.
- Avoid carrying out repair work on equipment outside.
- Avoid loading and unloading activities outside the premises of the facility.
- Avoid loading and unloading with the engine running (unless absolutely necessary).
- No loading and unloading activities in the evening or at night* (between 7 pm and 7 am) and on Sundays and public holidays.
- Turn off radios outside.
Hazardous (environmental) substances
- Make sure that contaminated water does not end up in the soil and/or in the public sewer, and agree with your contact person how to sample.
- Always read the user manual before use.
- Only use hazardous substances and/or cleaning agents for their intended purpose.
- Only one day’s stock may be present in production.
- If there has been a leakage of hazardous substances, cleaning agents or lubricants. Always use absorption granules or absorption mats and dispose of them in consultation with the contact person.
- Never dispose of hazardous (environmental) substances via the sink or sewer.
- Keep the location clean and orderly. Make agreements with the contact person about what to do with the waste that is released. You must take back the waste that is released yourself without further agreement.
- Waste must always be properly separated and deposited in the appropriate bins.
Waste streams:
- Aluminium, paper and glass are stored separately from other waste, see INS 4.10.1 for color coded containers. The TD also stores and disposes of iron and wood separately. When waste flows arise, please discuss the disposal with your contact person or manager.
- Collect paper waste in the office in white bins and empty it in the blue paper containers.
- Limit paper usage by printing as little as possible.
- Empty batteries are collected separately, there is a specially designed bucket at the TD.
- Electrical appliances are collected separately and taken to the municipal recycling center. Meeting point via TD.
- It is mandatory to deposit waste in the waste bins both inside and outside the building
- Do not throw cigarette residues on the street, but only put them in the designated (self-extinguishing) waste bins.
Restriction on energy consumption:
- Turn off lights in areas that are not being used (toilet, storage areas, meeting rooms, etc.).
- Do not run cranes unnecessarily.
- If equipment in the canteen is not in use, remove the plug from the socket.
- Turn off machines that are not being used, if possible.
Always report details and deviations immediately to the contact person/manager.
